# Fetch an invoice payment

> Retrieves an invoice payment by its ID.

An **invoice payment** represents a payment allocation applied toward a specific clinic invoice. When a client (pet parent) makes a payment, it is split across one or more invoices as individual invoice payment records, each tracking the amount applied. Invoice payments are never deleted.
